Has something to do with gvfs

a gvfs daemon must be running

Maybe it's as easy as:

gvfs-mount smb://cfs.st-andrews.ac.uk/shared/med_research/res

Unfortunately you'll most likely get

Error mounting location: volume doesn't implement mount

with that.

gvfs-mount -l

should actually list out ... but in my case, it doesn't.
